Why Does Everything You Make Look Slightly Different?

Because your brand lives in your head instead of on a page. One afternoon writes the kit: exact color codes, two typefaces with jobs, six voice rules, and every future build inherits it.

Here's the answer: drift. Audit everything carrying your brand today, the site, the socials, the last five graphics, the email footer, and for most small brands the result is humbling: five near-miss versions of the brand color, three fonts doing one job, a voice that shifts per platform. Every AI build tool asks what should this look like, and answers with generic defaults unless you hand it your answer. The brand kit is that answer, written once.

Seven blocks fit on one page: the logo in every version with clear-space rules. Color as one dominant, one ground, one accent, with exact hex codes and the job each does, assignments, not a palette of ten. Two typefaces, a display face and a body face, with their scale. The voice in six rules with banned words. The photography style in one sentence plus three references. The positioning line in ten words. And the three most common mistakes, pre-banned.

The refresh rule keeps it sane: keep 70 percent, sharpen 30. If you're replacing more than that, you're rebranding, which is a strategy decision, not a design afternoon.

Then the kit lives in three formats, updated the same day anything changes: the PDF one-pager for humans, the plain-text block pasted into every AI build so output lands on-brand the first time, and the Canva Brand Kit so every graphic snaps to the right colors and fonts by default.

The test of a finished kit is simple: could a stranger, human or AI, produce something recognizably yours using only the page?

The full afternoon is Volume 2 of our Design & Build studio system.

Seven blocks. Three formats. Zero drift.

Run the audit tonight and make the seven calls tomorrow. By the weekend, everything you build starts on-brand.
