The science was already there. The brand around it needed to become just as powerful.
The Stem Company was built on physician-founded regenerative skincare, proprietary technology and a fundamentally different approach to skin health. But having a powerful product story and owning that position in the market are two different things.
The opportunity extended far beyond improving a website. The brand needed a clearer position, a stronger visual and packaging system, a more sophisticated e-commerce experience and a consistent presence across social, email, Amazon, retail and physical brand experiences. As the business prepared for larger retail opportunities, including Ulta, every touchpoint needed to feel like part of the same credible, premium brand.
There was another layer too. In a category increasingly interpreted by search engines and AI systems, The Stem Company needed its scientific authority to become machine-readable as well as persuasive to customers. Clinical evidence, founder expertise, ingredients, patents, technology and products needed to form a connected evidence layer that both people and AI could understand.
The challenge was to turn exceptional science into a brand with the authority, infrastructure and presence to compete everywhere it mattered.
How we got there.
We built the ecosystem around the science.
The work began with the brand itself. Positioning was sharpened around The Stem Company’s regenerative skincare proposition, and that thinking was carried into brand identity, packaging, product storytelling and the broader visual system. The goal was to create a brand capable of holding its own across every environment, from a product carton and Instagram post to an e-commerce experience, trade show and national retail conversation.
That system was then built outward across commerce. The website was developed into a deeper brand and education platform, connecting product discovery with founder authority, clinical results, ingredient education and the science behind the technology. Product pages, landing experiences, Amazon content and storefront development were supported by stronger merchandising and conversion journeys, while packaging and retail presentation were developed with the next stage of distribution in mind, including work toward Ulta readiness.
The customer relationship was built beyond the point of purchase too. Klaviyo email marketing, lifecycle flows, campaign creative, subscriptions, loyalty, product recommendation journeys and customer education created a more connected path from discovery through consideration, purchase, replenishment and retention. Social presence and content were developed as part of the same system, while campaigns, launches and trade-show experiences carried the brand into both digital and physical environments.
At the same time, we built the authority layer behind the claims. Product pages were developed with evidence grading, supported by an ingredient glossary and a clinical study with a permanent citation record. Structured data connected the founder, patent, technology and products, creating a clearer relationship between who developed the science, the evidence behind it and the products customers could buy.
That authority layer extended into AI visibility. The Stem Company moved from zero measured AI presence into an environment designed to be understood and cited, with before-and-after measurement established across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Rather than treating SEO, GEO and LLM visibility as separate from the brand, they became another expression of the same strategy: make the science clear, prove it, structure it and give both customers and machines a reason to trust it.
Together, the work created the full commercial ecosystem around The Stem Company: brand, product, packaging, retail, commerce, content, lifecycle marketing, social presence, evidence and AI authority working as one system.
What changed.
- 0 → MeasuredAI presence across ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity
- 3AI platforms with before-and-after measurement
- 1Clinical study with a permanent citation record
The Stem Company evolved from a science-led skincare business into a more complete brand and growth ecosystem, built to compete across direct-to-consumer commerce, marketplaces, retail and the emerging AI discovery layer.
Brand positioning, packaging, website, social, lifecycle marketing, retail readiness and physical brand experiences were developed alongside a deeper authority infrastructure connecting clinical evidence, ingredients, founder expertise, patented technology and product.
The result is a brand designed not only to look credible, but to prove why it is credible, with the systems in place for customers, retailers, search engines and AI platforms to understand the same story.
