Here's the answer: the market already published the list, and it's called job postings. Most people re-skill against advice articles, but companies don't hire from articles. They hire from their own job descriptions. So before you spend one hour on any course, pull 10 to 15 live postings for the role you want and let AI rank every skill, tool, and certification by how often it appears.
That frequency ranking is the whole trick. A requirement showing up in 12 of 15 postings is a wall. One showing up in 2 of 15 is a preference. Most people study both equally and waste their hours on preferences.
Then sort everything into three buckets: what you have and can prove, what you're close on and just need to reframe, and what's genuinely missing. Rate each gap as critical or nice-to-have, and size it honestly: a weekend, a month, or a year. Finish with a readiness score and a free 12-week plan that closes the critical gaps first.
Two rules make the plan stick. Forty-five minutes a day beats a weekend binge, because retention follows frequency. And every closed gap needs an artifact, a certificate, a portfolio piece, or a number, because a skill without proof doesn't exist to a recruiter.

Fifteen postings will tell you more than fifty articles.
